Skiing

Squire and Scribe went skiing for the first time yesterday. They had a blast. A local ski hill offered a special for home schoolers. The $20.00 fee included equipment rental, lift pass, beginner lesson, and six hours on the slope. What a deal! A fresh snowfall and mild temperatures made it the perfect day for skiing. I now have two boys who think they have found "their sport". The best part is that the special will be offered again next month.

  6. Whew, that is a fantastic deal! I heard the King took them there; did he ski, too?

I remember my first time skiing; it was in Aspen, Colorado. My sister went with me up the slope, showed me a couple of things, and said, "See you at the bottom!" Three hours later I reached the bottom. The next day I could hardly walk; I was stiff and sore from falling down so much!

I was in my early twenties at the time, but I still occasionally have dreams about skiing off the side of a mountain because I don't know how to turn. I'm fifty-seven now.

I never went downhill skiing again, but did learn to cross-country ski, and loved it!

    I still like my sister.
